Soy Chicano Rap is the fourth studio album by American rapper Serio. It was released on February 13, 2013.^[2]

Background

^[3][4][5][6]Following the release of 3 successful solo albums Serio decided to release his senior album in 2013, before the release of that album however, on April 12, 2012 he released the first single, “Dont Hate Me Because Im Mexican” featuring Proper Dos, and Conejo prior to the release of the entire album in 2013. This single, "Dont Hate Me Because Im Mexican" caused great controversy as it brought more attention to the Arizona SB 1070 and challenged how unfair the law really was. It seemed to legalize racial profiling that specifically targeted Mexican immigrants living in the United States. This song also raised awareness on how the new law might affect not only Mexican immigrants but might also cause problems for any American of Hispanic descent.

In fact the song was so controversial that Youtube ^[7]deleted it after just being up for a couple weeks. Youtube claimed that the video violated its terms of service but this was really just them using that as an excuse and abusing the power they had, which is censorship. Other popular songs from that album, Soy Chicano Rap, are "Sexy Ladies," given to DJs prior to the album's release. Also in 2014 "They're Just Jealous" became the number one hit from the Serio album as it was placed into rotation.^[8]
