Spinney Mountain State Park is a Colorado state park.[1] [2] The park hosts regular fishing tournaments and is considered to be a Gold Medal fishing location with frequent catches of trophy caliber cutthroats, browns, rainbows and northern pike.[2] Hiking, hunting and camping are other activities permitted. The park is open only seasonally. It closes when the lake ices over and reopens when it thaws. The no ice fishing regulation has sparked controversy for some time, with proponents of recreation pointing out that the lake is safe for ice fishing and refuting claims the City Of Aurora makes that it is not.[2][3]
