Spot.IM is an Israeli dot-com company founded in 2012 and based in Tel Aviv. The company enables website owners and publishers to turn their websites into a social network based on their own content.[3] Spot.IM’s beta version is currently used on about 1,000 websites, including Time Out, Kerrang, and Suamusica.[4] As of 2014, the service is active in Italy, South Korea, Australia, Israel, Spain and the United States.[5]

History

The company was founded in 2012 by Nadav Shoval and Ishay Green,[1] the last being the founder of Soluto, a device protection service that integrates a mobile app, web portal, proactive communications, and remote device management into one service.[6] The service was fully launched two years after, in 2014.

Overview

The application enables users to create a social network where members can communicate with each other in a small group based on a specific interest.[7][8] Unlike Facebook, the application does not keep any record of conversations, nor does it save identity details.

Mobile apps

As of October 2014, Spot.IM is available on iOS and Android devices.[9]
