Nemmara is a village in the Palakkad district, state of Kerala, India. It is the main village in and administrated by the Nemmara gram panchayat.Nemmara is known by the famous festival called "NEMMARA VELA" [1]
Demographics
As of 2001, according to the Indian census, Nemmara had a population of 18,244 with 8,888 males and 9,356 females.[2]
Nemmara Vallangi Vela
Nemmara Vallangi vela and ayalur vishuvela is one of the important festivals of the region that falls on 2nd or 3rd to 16 of April every year. Organised by the two deshams of Nemmara and Vallangi, it is pumped up by the rivalry between the two. The fireworks display at the end of the function lasts for 1 hour and witnessed by thousands of people . It is one of the main attraction of this festival .The competition of two groups:Nemmara and Vallanghy, makes this festival famous . nemmara vela starts from "mannam" Nemmara-vallangy vela is commonly known as Nemmara vela £ (nandu)
