History

Starting as a dream of the Sisters of St. Francis, the hospital was opened in 1892.[3] and dedicated on June 13, 1893.[4] The previous building was erected in the 1940s. In 2009, the hospital began construction of a new 30-acre (12 ha) campus, located in Lakewood. Hospital operations officially transitioned to the new campus in two stages with the new Emergency Room opening on June 17, 2011, and the main hospital opening on June 20, 2011. During this transition to the new campus, St. Anthony Central Hospital was renamed to St. Anthony Hospital.
