Academic year

The academic year begins around mid February and ends in early December, thus having a long holiday of almost two and half months, owing to the cold weather in the winter. Other holidays include Easter Vacations, Summer Vacations, Dashera Vacations, Diwali Vacations and other National Holidays

Sports and traditions

All students from the School may participate in the school's teams in soccer,volleyball,cricket,basketball,archery and track and field, all of which compete in the other school division. Annual traditions at St. George's Higher Secondary School,Pedong include an annual school sports and annual school fete.

Curriculum

St. George's Higher Secondary School curriculum is in the areas of English, Nepali, Mathematics, Geography, History, Social Studies, Science, Moral Science, Computer Technology, Physical Education,(hindi, Bengali and lepcha, class V to VII), Art, and Music. St. George's Higher Secondary School teachers are state (West Bengal) certified, and the curriculum they teach reflects the requirements outlined by the Diocese of Darjeeling.

Uniform

The school uniform is compulsory. The full uniform is a white shirt, blue long trousers (for boys) and blue skirts (for girls), blue school socks with the yellow and red stripes on top, black Naughty Boy school shoes, and a blue tie with red and yellow stripes on it. The shirt must be tucked into the pants. Blue cardigans and blue school blazer coats for winters.

For physical education lessons and games, students change into their house dresses, which are red, blue, green and yellow vests accordingly.

Houses

The school has four houses.

Houses compete in activities during the Annual Sports Meet, Interhouse Games, Georgian Brain Contest (Quiz Competition) and other activities. Students have House T-shirts of their respective houses, the school badge with the name and colour of their house on their shirts.
