St. Joseph’s Institute of Management is the graduate business school of St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India, functioning independently since 2002. Its two-year program confers the Master in Business Administration (MBA), approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, and in affiliation with Bharathidasan University, Trichy.

Programme

Before first semester, a one-month bridge course is given along with intensive foundation courses in basic mathematics, communication, functional English, accountancy, computer skills, and behavioral science.
All first year courses are compulsory. After second semester students are required to intern in a business for eight weeks and give a written and oral report on the experience.
The second year includes six core courses, and four electives in the student's two areas of specialization, over the two semesters, Thirty-seven electives are offered in the fields of Finance, Systems, Marketing, and Human Resource Management. A paper must be submitted on one of the student's two areas of specialization.
In line with the Jesuit aim of forming men and women for others,[1] students are required to live in a village for a week and to suggest approaches that might be taken toward the resolution of problems faced by the villagers.[2]
JIM offers intensive, three-day workshops in the areas of personal growth, building self esteem, value formation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This includes training in neuro-linguistic programming, rational emotive therapy, managing emotions, time management, and stress management. Opportunities are also given to develop skills in public speaking, presentation skills, body language, and preparation of reports.

Management Development Program

This is offered as an opportunity for business people to update their knowledge of the field.

International Collaboration Programme

A group of students from Germany come to JIM every year to engage in mutual learning. They share and learn on cross-cultural issues and on perspectives on globalization. In February 2014 fifteen German students attended a seminar on globalisation and its impact, and on the status of women in India.

Twinning programme

The students begin their studies at JIM Trichy, India, and transfer their credits, taking the final term at London School of Commerce (LSC) at no additional tuition fee. Upon completion, they receive the MBA degree from LSC's partner Anglia Ruskin University in the east of England, which has an enrollment of around 34,000 students from the UK and abroad at its campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London, and Peterborough.[3][4]
