St. Lawrence Spurs F.C.
St. Lawrence Spurs Football Club is a football club based in the village of Saint Lawrence in Gozo, Malta.
History
The club was founded by local village resident and Malta Post worker Toni Formosa in 1968, it was difficult at first to put the club together as the economy in those days was low, even having the basics such as football boots was rare.
However with Gorg Cremona as the first player coach, the club entered the Second Division of the Gozo Football League for the 1968–69 season where they would stay until the end of 1971. Due to a large number of players immigrating to Australia the club had to close and left the league.
Reformation
In 1985 the club was established once more this time in partnership with Għarb Rangers F.C. and took part in the 1985/86 season. By the next season both clubs separated and formed their own teams. This led to the renaissance of St. Laurence Spurs as an independent team. Since the 1986/1987 season St. Laurence Spurs has competed in the league organized by the Gozo Football Association, which is the governing body for Gozitan football.
