St. Luke's Medical Center (SLMC) is a tertiary referral hospital located in Quezon City and Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines.[1][2][3] It was founded by the Protestant Episcopal Americans in 1903 as the second American and Protestant founded hospital in the Philippines.

Health professionals

St. Luke's Medical Center has a team of doctors in virtually all medical specialties including cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience, cancer, ophthalmology, digestive and liver disease among others. Today, St. Luke’s Medical Center has over 1,500 medical consultants, 230 medical residents and 123 fellows on its roster, apart from interns from its College of Medicine. There are 644 nurses and 2,000 other paramedical, administrative and support staff.

International affiliates

On 1 February 2005, St. Luke's signed an Affiliation Agreement with Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. SLMC also have affiliations with New York- Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University

History

St. Luke’s was established in 1903 by American Episcopalian missionaries as a charity ward and dispensary hospital. St. Luke's started out as fully free outpatient clinic for the poor in Calle Magdalena, Tondo. More than a hundred years later, St. Luke's still provides socialized medical services to the Filipino people. It also supports and conducts medical, dental and surgical missions in rural areas.It was transformed into an independent, non-sectarian, non-stock, non-profit corporation in the 1970s.

St. Luke's Medical Center- Quezon City

Today, St. Luke’s Medical Center- Quezon City sits on the hilly Cathedral Heights in Quezon City. The hospital now accommodates 652 beds, and is home to 10 institutes, 13 departments, and 22 "Centers of Excellence". Adjacent to the hospital proper are the Medical Arts Building and the twin towers of the Cathedral Heights Building Complex, where over 2,000 hospital-affiliated medical consultants see out-patients in more than 450 private clinics. Also within the complex are a five-story parking building, six restaurants, ten apartelle units for out-of-town families of patients, 14 residential units at the top floor and the St. Luke’s College of Medicine – William H. Quasha Memorial. The hospital is especially active in cardiovascular medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, and cancer.

St. Luke's Medical Center- Global City

The Bonifacio Global City branch in Metro Manila opened on 16 January 2010, and has become a favored hospital for politicians, businessmen, celebrities, and medical tourists. It also has several restaurants and basements. Located in the midst of business, commercial establishments, and residential communities, St. Luke's Medical Center-Global City has 14-story, 628-bed nursing tower with a helipad and a sprawling podium that houses the ancillary services. It also has a multilevel parking area with more than 1,100 slots.

The clinics are located at the 11-story Medical Arts Building. Both buildings open to a grand hotel-like lobby with a concierge and front desk officers ready to assist patients and guests. The hospital was also among the Top 25 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the world. It also opened a special heart unit for women.

Clinic

There is also an extension clinic located in Ermita, Manila. The extension clinic caters primarily to those patients seeking medical examination requirements for Visa application for US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
