StarTex Power is a Texas based retail electricity provider headquartered in Houston, Texas.

History

Texas deregulated the electricity market in 2002. StarTex Power was founded in 2004 by Marcie and Bob Zlotnik. Their management team has over 60 years combined experience in deregulated markets, with over 30 in the Texas Electricity Market.[1]

Marcie previously served as President and Director of Gexa Energy, a retail electricity provider she co-founded in 2001.[1]

The Company

StarTex power serves roughly 170,000 customers. StarTex Power has grown exponentially since its inception in 2004 and is one of the fastest growing businesses in Texas. The company sells its services to commercial and residential customers as well as collaborating with different companies to provide StarTex Power Green.

In 2009 StarTex Power was ranked #1 by JD Power and Associates for customer satisfaction.[2]

In 2010 StarTex Power was a Pinnacle award recipient by the Better Business Bureau for their exceptional customer care and commitment to ethical practices.[3]

In 2010 StarTex Power was also named a Houston Chronicle Top workplace after the recent launch of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and a continuing culture that fosters employee growth and encouragement.[4]

On May 27, 2011 Constellation Energy announced its intention to purchase StarTex Power which was completed on June 1, 2011.[5]
