Stare Miasto [ˈstarɛ ˈmjastɔ] is a village in Konin County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Stare Miasto.[1] It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Konin and 92 km (57 mi) east of the regional capital Poznań. The village has an approximate population of 1,500.
The name means "old town", although Stare Miasto has never had the status of a town or city. The name probably derives from the fact that it was an older settlement site than that which became the "new town" of Konin.
