Stephen McCain

Stephen (Steve) McCain is a retired American gymnast. McCain attended the University of California, Los Angeles. He was unable to make the U.S. team in 1996 after finishing 12th at the Olympic Trials, but competed in the 2001 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.[1]

Olympics

He participated in the 2000 Olympics. In 1996, he finished 12th at Olympic Trials and missed the team. After failing to make the team McCain moved to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado to focus more on his career.[2] He started eating a low-carbohydrate diet, before it became a diet fad, to better prepare himself for the Games.[3] In 2004, he also tried for the team, but did not make it.[4][5] McCain retired from gymnastics in 2004.[6]

Other international competition

McCain participated in four World Championships. In 2001, his team won a silver medal.[7]
