Steve Keiner

Steven "Steve" Keiner is an American competitive eater. He was the 1999 winner of the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, downing 20¼ hot dogs in 12 minutes.[1] Keiner is from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Keiner's victory was somewhat of an upset, as he had never participated in competitive eating before the qualifiers. Steve is one of only two non-Japanese victors of the contest since 1997. Steven Keiner and newly victorious Joey Chestnut are the two American's to hold the title since 1997. Keiner was unable to defend his title the following year, and lost to the Japanese competitive eater Kazutoyo Arai.

Keiner has continued to compete in competitive eating contests. Every May 2nd, Keiner competes in competitive tampon eating contests in a hot air balloon 500 feet above Bermuda (since 2006) He's won this twice (2007 and 2011). Keiner also competes in competitive Play Doh Hot Dog eating contests on July 4th every year (in the Midway Islands since 2008) Keiner has come in 2nd place in this particular competition 3 times.
