Steve Nijjar is a Canadian actor, film producer, and former soccer player, coach, and businessman.
Soccer career
Nijjar began playing soccer in 1987 in the Canadian Soccer League with Toronto Blizzard for three years. In 2001, he established a new franchise named the Brampton Hitmen which competed in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.[1] In 2002, he appointed himself as head coach for Brampton.[2][3] The following season he transformed Brampton from a struggling team into a dominant force which reached the CPSL championship final. In the playoff finals Brampton faced Vaughan Sun Devils, and won the match by a score of 1-0.[4] Other notable coaching achievements were coaching the CPSL All-Star team against TSV 1860 München.[5] As well serving as co-coach for the 2004 CPSL All-Star team against Boavista F.C..[6] In 2005, he stepped down as head coach and sold the Hitmen to Joe Fuliere.[7]
Nijjar was also produced and starred in numerous movies which include Safely Zone, The Protector, Soccer Dreams, and the Last King.[8]
