Steven S. DeKnight is an American television screenwriter, producer, and director. He is best known for being the creator, head writer and executive producer of the Starz series Spartacus, including Spartacus: Blood and Sand,[1] Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Spartacus: Vengeance and Spartacus: War of the Damned.

Previously, DeKnight worked on Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel. He also wrote "Swell", a story in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight comic series, and served as a consulting producer on Joss Whedon's television series Dollhouse.

In May 2014, DeKnight took over showrunning duties on Marvel's Daredevil from Drew Goddard, after his departure due to scheduling conflicts with directing Sinister Six.[2] In 2015, DeKnight is reported to have joined the Transformers' franchise writers room.[3]

In February 2016, it was announced that he would take over directing duties of Pacific Rim 2 from Guillermo del Toro, who will remain on the film in a producer role.[4] DeKnight has shown interest in developing an R-rated Punisher series.
