Leonardo Bercovici

Leonardo Bercovici (January 4, 1908, Brooklyn, New York, USA - November 22, 1995, Los Angeles, California, USA) was an American screenwriter, film director and producer.

Personal life

His son Eric Bercovici born in 1933 followed his parents' path in film industry and became a famous screenwriter and producer, so did his grandson screenwriter, producer and actor Luca Bercovici. His grandson Jacob Bercovici and granddaughter Hilary Bercovici composed music for films.

He was blacklisted after June 1950 in what was described as the Hollywood blacklist or American entertainment industry blacklist in a bid to deny employment to screenwriters, actors, directors, musicians, and other American entertainment professionals during the mid-20th century because of their suspected Communist sympathy or membership in the Communist Party. The campaign crumbled by the late 1950s.

Bercovici married Swedish stage and film actress Märta Torén in 1952 and she died in 1957.
