Stranded Deep is an upcoming first person, open world survival video game, developed and published by Australian developer BEAM Team Games for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and OS X. It will be the debut video game for the company. Stranded Deep follows the story of a plane crash survivor stranded somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.
Synopsis
Stranded Deep takes place in the Pacific Ocean, where a plane crash survivor finds themself faced with some of the most life threatening scenarios in an infinite, procedurally generated world. Players are able to explore Pacific islands, reefs, and bottomless ocean trenches filled with detailed biomes, and will need to search for and develop the means to survive.
The game features a dynamic weather and day-night cycle. Also featured is a building system, whereby players will be able to settle on an island and construct a shelter or a raft with which to explore the ocean, and a crafting system, whereby resources can be harvested and combined in order to create equipment. Resources are limited, and therefore need to be managed. As supplies that players are able to carry are limited, items will need to be prioritized for the task at hand.[1]
Players will need to manage their vitals of hunger, thirst, blood, and health, against the elements they face, and will be able to search sunken shipwrecks and islands for interesting and rare equipment.[2]
Development
Stranded Deep is the first video game from BEAM Team Games, a Brisbane-based developer founded by developers Ben Massey and Sam Edwards.
Development for Stranded Deep was announced in 2013, and the game became available as an Early Access title on Steam on January 23, 2015.[2] The release date of the completed game is currently unknown.
BEAM Team Games has stated that they are looking at incorporating co-op and multiplayer modes, as well as Oculus Rift support into the game in the future.[2]
