Streptococcus zooepidemicus is a species of Streptococcus.[1]
Streptococcus zooepidemicus is a Lancefield group C streptococcus. It is a mucosal commensal and opportunistic pathogen of several animals and humans. It is a clonal ancestor of S. equi with which shares greater than 98% DNA homology and many of the virulence factors.
