The Austrian Armed Forces are administered by the Ministry of Defence and Sports located in Vienna. The Ministry controls the following entities:

The structure of the Armed Forces Command, which commands all operational forces of the Austrian Armed Forces, and is tasked with the defence of Austria is as follows:

Land Forces

The 12th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 33rd infantry battalions field each a staff company and three infantry companies. The 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th infantry battalions field each a staff company, three infantry companies and combat support company with heavy mortars and anti-tank missiles (note: the 25th only fields two infantry companies and the 26th will disband its 3rd infantry company in 2016). The two mechanized infantry battalions field each a staff company and three mechanized infantry companies. The single tank battalion fields a staff company and three tank companies. The two reconnaissance and artillery battalions field each a staff company, two reconnaissance companies and two artillery batteries. The sole reconnaissance battalion fields a staff company and three reconnaissance companies. The three engineer battalions each field a staff company, a technical company and three engineer companies. The staff battalions of the brigades each field a staff company, a command support (Signal) company, a NBC-defense company, a supply and transport company, a maintenance company and a training company.

Each reserve infantry battalion fields a staff company and three infantry companies. Until 2018 each reserve infantry battalion will add another infantry company.
