Zaleszczyce [zalɛʂˈt͡ʂɨt͡sɛ] (German: Stuthof) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gryfice, within Gryfice County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of Gryfice and 66 km (41 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
Before 1945 the area was part of the German Province of Pomerania. In 1939, at the time of the Nazi German invasion of Poland, the population of Zaleszczyce consisted of 22 persons. Following World War II there was no native German populace there, and the village was repopulated by the Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.[2]
