Sujith Kuttan[1] (Malayalam: സുജിത്ത് കുട്ടന്‍; born 29 April 1992) is an emerging talent in the Indian track and field arena. He was named the "Fastest Boy of Kerala" in the year 2011[2] and has won a bronze at the National Games held in Ranchi in February 2011.[3] He is the son of ace athletic duo Murali Kuttan and Mercy Kuttan, the first couple from India to win Asian Games individual medals.

Career

Sujith was born in Jamshedpur where his parents were working for Tata Steel. Sujith began his career at the age of 16 as a High Jumper and later switched his attention to the 100 metres where he has excelled. He was the National Junior Champion in the year 2011 and clocked his personal best time of 10.62 seconds during the semi-finals of the National Games held in February 2011 where he went on to win bronze in 100 m and 4x100 m relay.[4]

Personal life

Sujith Kuttan is the son of former Olympian Mercy Kuttan, who represented India at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and late Murali Kuttan, a former 400 metres national champion.[5] He was coached by his parents and had been training under Mercy Kuttan Athletics Academy in Kochi.[6]
