Alice Suki Waterhouse[2][3] (born 5 January 1992)[4] is an English model and actress.[5]

Background

Waterhouse was born in Hammersmith, London, England,[2] and was raised in Chiswick, London, the daughter of Elizabeth, a cancer care nurse, and Norman Waterhouse, a plastic surgeon.[3][6] She has a younger sister, Imogen,[7] known as Immy, who is also a model.[1]

Career

Modeling

Waterhouse began her modelling career after being discovered in a pub in London when she was 16.[8] When she was 19, her first noted campaign was as a lingerie model for Marks and Spencer.[8][9]

She is a face of Burberry and Redken.[10][11] Waterhouse has also modelled for brands like Tommy Hilfiger[12] (alongside sister Immy), Swatch, Lucy in Disguise, H&M, Alice + Olivia, Coast, Max Studio, Sass & bide, Caterina Gatta and Pepe Jeans.[13][14][15]

Waterhouse has appeared on the cover of British, Korean, Thai, Taiwanese and Turkish Vogue,[16] Tatler, British and Korean Elle as well as Lucky, L'Officiel, American "Marie Claire",[17] French Grazia and 1883 Magazine.[18] Waterhouse has also shot editorials for American, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese "Vogue"[19][20] Love Magazine, American Elle,[21] Velour, and Stylist Magazine among others.[14][22] Waterhouse has also walked the runway for brands including Burberry and Balenciaga and is a regular on the front row at fashion week.[23]

Acting

In 2010, Waterhouse appeared in an episode of TV series Material Girl. Since then, she has appeared in the films Rachael, Pusher, Love, Rosie, and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (film)".

She played Marlene in the sequel The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015), based on the book of the same name.[24] In March 2015 it was announced that Waterhouse had been cast in the role of Arlen in Ana Lily Amirpour's romance thriller film The Bad Batch, co-starring Jim Carrey, Diego Luna, Jason Momoa, and Keanu Reeves.[25] Waterhouse will also play the role of Quintana alongside Kevin Spacey, Emma Roberts and Ansel Elgort in "Billionaire Boys Club (2016 film)".[26]

Photography

Waterhouse has shown her photography work at the Eb and Flow gallery in London along with Reggie Yates and Imogen Morris Clarke in an exhibition presented by Next Model Management called 'I'll Be Your Mirror'.[27] In February 2014, she posed completely nude for Dominic Jones Jewelry's autumn/winter campaign at London Fashion Week.[28][29]
