Sumarria Lunn Gallery

History
Sumarria Lunn Gallery was co-founded by Will Lunn and Vishal Sumarria in early 2009 as a peripatetic gallery using a "pop-up" exhibition model with a private office in St Johns Wood, London.[1] This was an almost direct continuation of the program at William Angel Gallery which was opened in March 2008 by Photographer John Adrian[2] in Peckham Rye, South London and closed in the climate of economic downturn, shortly before the pair left in May 2009.[3]
Sumarria Lunn Gallery pop-up exhibitions and projects from this two-year period total eighteen exhibitions, including "Apollonian/Dionysian" (an exhibition of work by Korean artist Sungfeel Yun at the The Hempel, Craven Hill Gardens, London),[4] a show of David Wightman's abstract and landscape paintings entitled "Secret Name" (also at The Hempel, London),[5] and an exhibition of installations by Glaswegian duo "littlewhitehead" at London Art Fair 2011,[6] Exteriority an exhibition of outdoor sculpture by James Ireland, littlewhitehead, Victoria Rance, David Rickard and Douglas White in St Johns Wood, London,[7] and an exhibition and auction with Sotheby's for the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture held at the Royal Institution of Great Britain which included work by Anish Kapoor, Paula Rego, Sir Howard Hodgkin, Cornelia Parker, Sir Peter Blake, Michael Craig-Martin, Sarah Lucas, Gavin Turk, David Wightman, and Mark Titchner.[8]
In 2011 Sumarria Lunn Gallery opened a new permanent gallery location in Mayfair, London at 36 South Molton Lane off Bond Street.[9] Both Lunn and Sumarria were in their twenties, with Lunn just 22 years old).[10]
