Sunder Lal was an Indian freedom fighter, politician and Member of Parliament of India. MP for five straight terms, he was member of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and the 5th Lok Sabhas of India. Lal represented the Saharanpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh and was a member of the Congress political party.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life and education

Sunder Lal was born in village Baliakheri, Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He participated in the Indian independence movement and after Indian independence he joined active politics.[1][7]

Political career

Sunder Lal was Member of Parliament for five straight terms from Saharanpur. However, during the 1st and the 2nd Lok Sabha, Saharanpur constituency was differently defined and was not in existence. Lal represented the "Saharanpur (West) cum Muzaffarnagar (North)" constituency during the 1st Lok Sabha and "Saharanpur (SC)" during the 2nd Lok Sabha. He was a member of a Congress party.[1] And was supposed to be close to Indira Gandhi and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna.[8]
