Sunshine Coast Labour Council
The Sunshine Coast Labour Council (SCLC) is situated on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. It is affiliated to the Canadian Labour Congress, and serves as a hub for local Union connectivity. The SCLC held its first meeting on July 7, 1986 with the mission statement of "Working to defend the rights of working people from Port Mellon on Howe Sound to Earls Cove on Jervis Inlet". Today, the SCLC maintains its original mission statement, and in addition serves as Labour's connection to the community. In this role, the SCLC stages 5 events each year, which includes the International Women's Day on March 8, the Worker's Day of Mourning on April 28, the Labour Day Picnic, the National Day of Remembrance on December 6, and the Breakfast with Samta.
