Supreme Council of Armenia
The Supreme Council of Armenia was a governing body for Armenian territory in the Soviet Union, the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, and for the independent Republic of Armenia until 1995 when it was superseded by the National Assembly (Armenia).
The Supreme Council was preceded by the Armenian National Council (1917-1918) and then a Khorhurd (legislature), before becoming part of the Soviet Union in 1920.
Members included:
- Levon Ter-Petrosyan, President of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Armenia at the time of nation's independence in 1990
- Avtandil Beridze
- Serzh Sargsyan
- Karapet Rubinyan
- Ara Sahakian, secretary in 1990 when he signed the Declaration of Independence of Armenia with president Ter-Petrosyan
