Swedish Chamber Orchestra

The Swedish Chamber Orchestra (Swedish: Svenska Kammarorkestern) is a Swedish orchestra based in Örebro. Founded in 1995, it has its home stage in Örebro Concert Hall.[1] It was established in May 1995 by merging a string orchestra, the Örebro Kammarorkester (Örebro Chamber Orchestra) with a wind ensemble, the Örebro Kammarblåsare (Örebro Wind Ensemble). The orchestra has 38 full-time musicians and has been led by music director Thomas Dausgaard since 1997, and violinist Nikolaj Znaider as conductor since spring 2009.[2] Karin Rehnqvist was composer in residence in the early 2000s. The orchestra has recorded over 50 CDs on the BIS Records, Simax, Naxos Records and Hyperion Records labels.
