TAFE South Australia
TAFE South Australia (TAFE SA) provides vocational education and training in South Australia. The acronym TAFE stands for Technical and Further Education and is used and recognised nationally throughout Australia. TAFE SA is a Registered training organisation (RTO) under the jurisdiction of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
TAFE SA is an independent Statutory Corporation of the Government of South Australia and is Australia’s largest provider of Vocational Education and Training (VET). Its extensive network of 56 campuses, learning centres, Aboriginal Access Centres and video-conferencing facilities provides the physical backbone of the VET sector in South Australia. TAFE SA enrols over 80,000 students a year and delivers 1,300 qualifications ranging from certificates through to advanced diplomas, vocational graduate certificates and bachelor degrees. TAFE SA also delivers a wide range of skill sets and customised short courses.
Skill areas include building and construction, tourism, hospitality and creative arts, mining, engineering and transport, primary industries, animal and laboratory sciences, community services, health and lifestyle, business, justice and information technology, foundation skills and Aboriginal education.
Training facilities include the Tonsley TAFE opened in January 2014, the Adelaide College of the Arts, the Regency International Centre for Hospitality, Tourism and Food Studies, graduates' function centre, Renewable Energy Trade Training Centres, driving simulators for the mining industry, Critical Safety Training Centre, Truck-mounted mobile engineering training unit, Aboriginal Access Centres, Virtual Enterprises and "Fab Lab" fabrication workshop.

History
On 1 November 2012 TAFE SA became a statutory authority separate from the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology. At this point TAFE SA decided to merge the 3 districts (institutes) into one to provide more streamlined services and a more consistent experience for students.
