The Tacoma Knights was a proposed Tier III Junior A ice hockey expansion team in the Northern Pacific Hockey League (NPHL). Originally scheduled to begin in the 2014–15 season, however as of the 2015–16 season the Knights have yet to form a team. The Knights home arena was to be the Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma.

History

The Northern Pacific Hockey League announced that there would be an expansion team in Tacoma, Washington in March 2014.[1] Matt Harris was hired as the first head coach in August 2014.

The franchise was going to play its first year in the 2014-15 season. A lack of players and coaching change saw the team cease operations just before the start of the season.[2]

Tacoma hockey

The city of Tacoma has struggled to maintain a hockey team in the past. Previous teams include the Tacoma Rockets, a Western Hockey League team who played from 1991–1995, and the Tacoma Sabercats, who played in the West Coast Hockey League from 1997–2002.
