Taftan (Urdu: تفتان), (Balochi: تفتا) is a town located in Chaghi District, Balochistan, Pakistan. It is Pakistan's only legal official border crossing into Iran and famed by locals as the "road to London" because it is a famous smuggling route. Over 600 km from Quetta, getting to Taftan is a journey of almost 12 hours of careful driving.
The border crossing point on the Iranian side is at Mirjaveh.
Basically, there is only one tribe of Taftan, the Sherzai Tribe. Haji Malik Essa Khan Sherzai is the leader of the Sherzai Tribe in Saindak and Taftan. Haji Malik Suleman Khan Sherzai..... belonged to the Saindak (Taftan); his grave is in Hamalaap near Saindak. Sherzai is the most powerful tribe in Taftan and Saindak.
