Tagenarine Brandon Chanderpaul (born 31 May 1996[1]) is a cricketer who plays for Guyana in first-class cricket.[2]

He is a left-hand opening batsman. He made his first-class debut on 9 February 2013.[3] He is the elder son of West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.[4]

Under-19s Career

He was selected for Under-19s World Cup in 2014 in United Arab Emirates at age of 16. Chanderpaul scored an unbeaten 84 paved the way for West Indies Under-19 cricket team' 167-run thrashing of Zimbabwe Under-19 cricket team in Abu Dhabi.

Chanderpaul struck six fours during his knock and forged fifty-plus partnerships with Shimron Hetmyer and Jonathan Drakes to propel the team to a formidable 275 for 6 from their 50 overs.

He also scored a hundred at the 2014 Under 19 Youth World Cup. Chanderpaul is said to be a patient batsman that can increase the tempo of the innings if necessary. He was a prolific run scorer for the Guyana under-19 cricket team which earned in a spot in the West Indies Under-19 cricket team to go to UAE for the 2014 Under-19s World Cup.

Domestic career

He plays for Guyana in first-class cricket and made his first-class debut in February 2013 at aged 16 or Guyana against Leeward Islands in the regional four-day competition at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound.

His father Shivnarine had also made his first-class debut for Guyana as a teenager, when he was 18. Shivnarine was playing the Bangladesh Premier League and was away during the course of his son's debut.

He was dropped from the Guyana Jaguars Cricket team due to a lack of form however he was still offered a contract with the franchise along with fellow under19 stars: Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul and Gudakesh Motie.

As of July 31 2015 he was listed in the Demerara senior team to park take in the Guyana Cricket Board Inter County 4day Competition where he will look to be a prolific scorer and make a claim for a second burst in first class cricket.

Style

Tagenarine like his father is said to be a patient batsman, hard to dislodge and capable of spending a lot of time at the crease. But is capable of uping the tempo if needed
