Tahir Hussain Mashhadi

Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi (born 26 July 1942 in Jahaniah, Punjab) was a Lt Colonel in the Pakistan Army.

Military career

Tahir Mashhadi joined the Pakistan Army in 1970 during the war with India and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1971, graduating from the Pakistan Military Academy's 30th short course. He has done B.Sc (Hons)from PMA and also completed PSC (Command and Staff Course Quetta) with flying colours.

Indo Pak War of 1971 During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Mashhadi was stationed in then East Pakistan at Dacca airport which saw some heaviest air attacks & Indian lost a number of air crafts to 6 Lt Air Defence Regiment. At the end of war, Mashadi was taken prisoner of war and repatriated in 1974.

Political career

Tahir Mashhadi has not only served the country while fighting on the battle fields but also as public elected representative in senate (Tenure = March 2006 to March 2012) and City administration. He is an active member of public committees and held chairmanship of Standing committee on rules of procedures and privileges. Below are the member committee .

Tahir Mashhadi is a member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Personal life

Senator Mashhadi is married with three sons and two daughters. He has visited US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Thailand, UAE, Qatar, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Azerbaijan and Turkey. His hobbies are debating, reading and traveling.
