The Taipei Metro C321 is a type of rolling stock[1] used on the Taipei Metro. The train cars are currently in service on Line 5, having previously being used on Line 2. The trains were made by Siemens and began operation in 1998 and 1999. The train design was the same as the C301 in front, but the interior and exterior design was changed, with the door being different. The external livery was not changed.
Interior Design
The train design is being used in C341, C371 design where the blue rectangle on top of the lights and the gangway out was situated. The seats can be facing forward or backward. The seats are in turquoise, while the Reserved/Priority seats are in Navy Blue. The Priority seats are at the sides, and 8 seats are between doors while 3 seats are next to the end of the car and doors.
Unlike the C301 Trains, the Passenger Information Display never shows the doors opening and closing and also never shows the time. But now it shows the station design and the terminal. There are bicycle racks at the 1st and 6th cars.
Train Formation
The train was ranged between x101/x102 to x171/x172,[2] which was the second type of the Taipei Metro Trains. However, initially it was decided to range from x045/x046 to x115/x116, but to contrast with the older trains, they had a new number at the second digit which instead of '0' was increased to '1'.
As with the other MRT train sets, the 1st and 6th cars were always in spot 1 while 2nd and 5th cars were always in spot 2, and the middle carriages were always in spot 3.
Derivatives
The Taipei Metro C341 was developed directly from the C321, using the IGBT-VVVF inverters, for the Tucheng extension of the Bannan Line. The Kaohsiung MRT also uses the Siemens trains derived from the Taipei Metro.
