Surrounding area

Tama-Plaza is sandwiched between Saginuma (located in Kawasaki) on one side and Azamino (located in Yokohama) on the other. In most respects, Tama-Plaza is quite the opposite to the cool urban chic of Shibuya. It is a somewhat upmarket station serving the recently built commuter suburbs of northwestern Yokohama. It is noted for its relatively spacious, expensive houses and the Tokyu Department Store, both contributing to the spic-and-span ambiance. Convenient in terms of location, this area is home to many residents commuting to central Tokyo who wish to be close to the city but without the pollution, crowds and noise.
