Tamar Ish-Shalom

Tamar Ish-Shalom (Hebrew: תמר איש-שלום; born on 6 January 1981) is an Israeli journalist and television presenter. She currently serves as a newsanchor for Channel 10.[1]

Biography

Ish-Shalom was raised on a vineyard in Jerusalem. Her mother is a professor of biochemistry and her father a senior manager at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. As a child, she lived in the United States as part of her father's work for about three years. She started working as a reporter in her youth in the shows "Zap First" and "Ping Pong" (Channel One) and "Reconciliation" (Channel Two).

In her youth she also participated in the "shades" to promote Jewish pluralism in Israel, as well as in Young Leadership Program Israel-German Bertelsmann Foundation.

After completing her military service as Galatz's police reporter (1999-2001), she continued to work there as a civilian employee until 2004. During that time she was a political correspondent and editor of the station's morning logs.

In 2004 she began working at Israeli Channel 10 on the channel's morning show, also serving breaking news on television and radio. She also served as a guest presenter ion the topical news program "Rafi Reshef at Five".

In 2007, she left Channel 10 in favor of a Master's Degree in London. She also worked for Channel 2 as a news correspondent in Europe and as a reporter for special projects. Among others she covered the terrorist attack in Mumbai, the earthquake in Italy, and the second Durban conference. During a press conference which Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended at the United Nations, he extraordinarily answered the question she presented to him.

In 2010 she filed reports with various news and current affairs programs. In March 2011 she left Channel 2 for Channel 10 following the retirement of Miki Haimovich. She initially presented the show from June 2011 alternately with Ya'akov Eilon. In late April 2012, with the resignation of Ya'akov Eilon, she began presenting the news show for four out of the five daily editions. The fifth day edition was presented by Guy Zohar, until he was replaced by Tali Moreno in September 2013.

Education and personal life

Ish-Shalom has a BA in psychology and Jewish philosophy from Tel Aviv University and an MA in theology from King's College London. She is married to journalist and foreign news editor of Channel 10, Nadav Eyal, and the couple have a daughter and a son. They live in Givatayim.
