Tanya Wexler (born August 6, 1970) is an American film director. She is best known for her 2011 comedy Hysteria.[1]

Early life and education

Wexler is the daughter of Chicago real estate developer Jerrold Wexler[2] and his second wife Susan Jeanne Metzger.[3] She attended Yale University ('92) where she was roommates with actress Bellamy Young.[4] Wexler also holds an MFA from Columbia University ('95).

Career

Wexler has directed three films: Finding North (1998), Ball in the House (2001) and Hysteria (2011).

Personal life

Wexler met her future wife, Amy Zimmerman, while they were both students at Yale University.[5] Wexler and Zimmerman married on May 19, 2004 in Massachusetts, the first U.S. state to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.[6] They have four children, son Jerry (b.1999) and daughters Elle (b.2000), Ruby (b.2003) and Violet Zimmerman-Wexler (b.2006).[7]
