Taplow United Football Club is an English football club based in the village of Taplow, in the county of Buckinghamshire. They were founded in 1923 and offer football for boys and girls across all age groups from Under 7 to Under 18 plus 3 senior men's sides. The men's first team currently compete in the Premier Division of the Thames Valley Premier Football League. Taplow United through the years have produced a number of great young players with the latest being Mitchell Martin dubbed the 'White Cafu' due to his likeness to the Brazilian legend. He recently turned down offers from Gibraltan first division side Gibraltar United as well as Cypriot second division side Elpida Xylyfagou. Claiming 'I want to stay loyal to Taplow, they have given me the platform to play and I feel for my development it would be best to stay in England'.

Taplows top goal scorer is Tom Wisely. Danger Mouse as nicknamed by manager Paul Holt is looking to claim the top goalscorer award for the second consecutive year which no player in the clubs history has ever achieved. He currently has 19 goals in as many games, getting 5 hat-tricks along the way . Local clubs like Maidenhead United, Slough Town FC and Burnham F.C have all expressed an interest in signing Aiden Doyle with negotiations stalling on numerous occasions. Tom has expressed an interest in staying at Taplow United due to its family spirit which he claims 'has not been matched by any clubs I have spoke to'.

History

The football club was formed, by former pupils of Slough Secondary School in 1923 and were originally called Old Paludians.[1]

In the 1994–95 season the club joined division one of the Chiltonian League.[2] In 1998 the club then changed its name to Taplow United.[3] In 2000 the Chiltonian league merged into the Hellenic Football League, but the club did not join the merged league and moved to the East Berkshire Football League instead.[1][4] In the 2004–05 season the club moved to the Reading League.[4]

Ground

Taplow United play their home games at Stanley Jones Memorial Ground, Berry Hill, Taplow, Berkshire SL6 0DA. The club has played here since 1955, previously having played at Lascelles Road.[5]
