Tarık Göçmen (born September 3, 1975) is a Turkish ice hockey coach and former player.[1] Currently, he is the sportive director of the Turkey national ice hockey teams.[2]

Career

Player

Between 2001 and 2004, Göçmen played in the Turkish Ice Hockey Super League for Izmir BB GSK.[3] After four seasons, he transferred in 2005 to İzmit Şirintepe SK to play in the Turkish Ice Hockey First League for three seasons.[3]

Coach

Club

Tarık Göçmen began his coaching career in 2001 when appointed assistant coach for the juniors team of the Kocaeli BB Kağıt.[3] In the 2002-03 season, he enjoyed Juniors League championship.[3]

The next season, he was promoted to head coach of the both teams, juniors and seniors, of Kocaeli BB Kağıt, and managed the junior team achieve their second championship.[3] Under his coaching, the juniors teams became league champion in two consecutive seasons more.[3] In the 2006-07 season, Göçmen made the seniors team league champion.[3]

After eight seasons with Kocaeli BB Kağıt, he signed for Ankara University SK,[4] where he coached in the 2009-10 season and helped the team becoming champion in there first season at the top level league.[3][5] Meanwhile, in the summer season, he helped the roller in-line hockey team of Altay S.K. in İzmir win a championship.[4] In the 2011-12 season, Göçmen was transferred by Başkent Yıldızları, another Ankara-based team.[3]

In the 2013-14 season, Göçmen returned to his club Kocaeli BB Kağıt as head coach again.[3]

National team

In the 2003-04 season, Göçmen was named assistant coach for the U-18 and seniors Turkey men's teams, and later also for the national U-20 team.[3] He served at this post until 2010, participating at World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in 2003 WJ18C Div III, 2007 WJ18C Div III, 2008 WJ18C Div III and IIHF World U20 Championship in 2009 WJ20C Div III as well as IIHF World Championships in 2003 WC Div III, 2004 WC Div III, 2007 WC Div II, 2009 WC Div III.[3]

In September 2010, the Turkish Ice Hockey Federation appointed Tarık Göçmen head coach of the Turkey men's national ice hockey team for one year.[3][6] He was responsible also for the national U-20 team.[3] His contract was renewed one year later in 2012.[3]

As head coach of the national teams, he took part at the 2013 WJ18C Div III, 2014 WJ18C Div III B,[7] 2010 WJ20C Div III, 2011 WJ20C Div III,[8] 2012 WJ20C Div III, 2013 WJ20C Div III,[9] 2010 WC Div II and 2012 WC Div III.[3]

His additional duty as head coach was for the Turkey women's national ice hockey team at the 2011 Universiade,[10] 2011 WC Div V and 2013 WC Div II Gr B Qual.[1][2][11]

Currently, Tarık Göçmen is the Sportive Director of the Turkey national ice hockey teams.[2]
