Tatiana Rudolfovna Druchinina (Russian: Татьяна Рудольфовна Дручинина; born April 18, 1969, in Omsk, RSFSR, USSR) is a retired Soviet rhythmic gymnast. She is the 1987 World champion in ribbon and the 1986 World Cup Final all-around silver medalist, Merited Master of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics, Honored coach of Russia and figure skating choreographer.

Personal life

Druchinina was married to two-time Pairs Olympic champion Artur Dmitriev, they divorced in 2006. They have a son together, Artur Dmitriev Jr. who is also a figure skater competing for Russia.

Tatiana Druchinina was among leading Soviet gymnast of the 1980s along (with Marina Lobatch, Galina Beloglazova, and Dalia Kutkaitė). Although Druchinina never won a World or European all-around medal, Druchinina finished high in the standings.

In her competitions at the 1984 Europeans Championships, she came in 6th in the all-around.[1] she debuted at the 1985 World Championships and finished 6th in all-around, won bronze in clubs, 4th with rope and ribbon.

She was 4th in all-around at the 1986 Europeans (1st on ball, 4th with rope and clubs). she won 4 gold medals at the 1986 Goodwill Games (All-around, rope, ball, and ribbon).[2] She was tied for the all-around silver medal (with teammate Galina Beloglazova) at the 1986 World Cup Final, she won silver in clubs, bronze medals in rope and ball.[3] She finished 6th in all-around at the 1987 World Championships and won gold in ribbon. Druchinina also briefly performed as member of the Soviet group exercises.[4]

In 1988, Druchinina suffered a back injury and was withdrawn from the Europeans, rising teamamte Olexandra Tymoshenko substituted her in the Soviet team and went on to win the 1988 European Championships and the bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Druchinina retired from gymnastics at the end of the 1988 season.

Since 1993, Druchinina lived in the United States until 2007, when she returned to Russia, collaborating with Alexander Zhulin and Evgeny Platov with their Ice dance students. Previously, she has also worked with Sarah Hughes, Sasha Cohen, Ekaterina Gordeeva / Sergei Grinkov.[5]

Before the 2011/12, Druchinina worked for many years at the Sports Palace "Jubilee" Club in St. Petersburg with sports groups and pairs of Tamara Moskvina. In 2011 she moved to Moscow, where she trained her son Artur Dmitriev Jr. briefly. In the 2011/12 season, she has collaborated with a group of ice dancing students of Svetlana Alexeeva.
