Tattoo Fixers is a British reality television documentary, broadcast on E4. The show is about helping members of public cover up some of the rudest and crudest tattoos.

History

On February 12, 2015, Digital Spy announced that television channel, E4, would be commissioning a nine-part documentary series; The Tattoo Fixers.[1] However, it was later shortened to Tattoo Fixers. The series follows the same format as the American show Tattoo Nightmares.

Current

Alice Isabelle Perrin (born 1991) is a tattoo artist from Hereford who replaced Lou Hopper in Season 2 of the show. Perrin studied a tattoo apprenticeship while studying a BA in Fine Art at the Hereford College of Arts and caring for the elderly at the same time.

James Michael "Jay" Hutton (born 1990)[2] is a tattooist from Abergele.[3] Tattooing since he was eighteen years old, he opened Adrenaline Tattoo Studio, a studio in Ellesmere Port, in 2012.[3] Hutton has garnered significant media attention through his works of boxers Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson.[4][5] In addition, he has received interest from Kerry Katona, Kym Marsh, Mario Falcone and Lee Ryan.[6]

Paisley Thomas (born 1993) is an actress who plays the role of the receptionist in the studio and is a trained dancer in street, contemporary and dancehall from South London.[7]

Steven "Sketch" Porter (born January 13, 1986) is a tattooist from South London and father to four daughters.[8] In 2011, he opened tattoo shop, Reppin Ink, in Eltham.[9]

Past

Louisa Jayne "Lou" Blake Hopper (born 1987)[10] is a self-taught tattooist from Devon.[11] Now living in Brighton, she works as a tattooist for King of Hearts, a studio in London.[12][13] Lou left the show in Season 2 and was replaced by Alice.

The first series of Tattoo Fixers aired on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00pm on E4[14] The series ran through every Tuesday, for nine weeks, until the final episode on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.[15][16]

SOPHIE/POLLY – These twins were previously the starts of Home Farm Twins. Now, years later they come in for a cover up for Sophie and a matching tattoo for Polly as a memorial for their granddad - Tattoo by Sketch/Jay

JOSH – this Pantomime performer wants a cover up of a tattoo of his name he now regrets and wants a Snow White inspired tattoo - Tattoo by Lou

ADAM – Victim of a cheat, Adam wants a cover up of a tattoo dedicated to his ex on his foot. To cover it up he wants a skull to rid of the memory - Tattoo by Sketch

RYAN – After a wild and drunken night out Ryan wakes to find a Penis tattoo on his bum. He decides to cover it up with some roses - Tattoo by Jay

DANNY – Ink collector Danny wants to rid of the initials ‘AJ’ from his penis in hope it will let him be able to settle down in the future. The Anchor already on the design could do with some rope incorporated into it - Tattoo by Sketch

DOUG – After losing a bet with a waitress, Doug got a tattoo on his nipple of a smiley face. The cover up he hopes for is a wild cat and or large animal. - Tattoo by Lou

CHRISTINA – On a holiday to Thailand, Christina thought she was getting a butterfly tattoo but was given a harsh attempt. - Tattoo by Sketch

CRAIG – Being a canvas for stupid and pun intended tattoos were wearing thin for Craig, especially when he wants to cover up a rubbish attempt at a Camel on his Toe. But the cover up wanted is of a better looking Camel! - Tattoo by Lou

Series 2 (2015–16)

On August 18, 2015, the show's official Twitter account tweeted "BOOM! That’s #TattooFixers over for the series but we will be back very soon."; confirming the commission of a second series.[17] In addition, cast member Jay announced on his Facebook account that the show would be returning.[18] On August 19, 2015, Daily Post rumoured that filming for the second series would commence in October 2015.[19] The second series started airing on December 22, 2015 at 9:00pm on E4. There will be fifteen episodes in this series, six more than series one. Every episode 1-11 airs on a Tuesday, as of 7 March 2016 Tattoo Fixers airs on a Monday 9:00pm.

International

In Australia, the series premiered on GO! on September 2, 2015.[20]

Spin-offs

In 2016 Channel 4 announced the commission of two Tattoo Fixers spin-offs. Holiday Tattoo Fixers will be similar to the parent series but with a focus on tattoos picked up on holidays abroad, whilst Body Fixers will look at non-tattoo cosmetic alterations such as body piercing, hair dye and botox.[21] Casting calls for Body Fixers began to appear after episodes of Tattoo Fixers from February 2016.
