Tau Piscis Austrini (Tau PsA, τ Piscis Austrini, τ PsA) is a yellowish white F-type main sequence star with an apparent magnitude of +4.94. It is approximately 61 light years from Earth.
The star's age is estimated to be 1.3 billion years but is certainly no less than 300 million years and no greater than 2.1 billion years.[1]
Tau Piscis Austrini is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 40.6 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 22,500 and 29,900 light years from the center of the Galaxy.[1]
Naming
In Chinese, 天錢 (Tiān Qián), meaning Celestial Money, refers to an asterism consisting of refers to an asterism consisting of τ Piscis Austrini, 13 Piscis Austrini, θ Piscis Austrini, ι Piscis Austrini and μ Piscis Austrini. Consequently, τ Piscis Austrini itself is known as 天錢五 (Tiān Qián wǔ, English: the Fifth Star of Celestial Money.)[2]
