Taxi1010

Taxi1010 is a website that advocates "ideas, vocabulary, and daily comeback for defending against verbal violence." The website aims to teach its users "non-escalating verbal self defense" strategies and phrases by connecting verbal attacks with underlying fallacies. Its creator, Richard Ames Hart, drives a San Francisco Yellow Cab numbered 1010 in California.[1][2] Difficult and insulting customers drove Hart to develop various non-escalating verbal self-defense strategies, realizing "after a while that no matter what [my cab riders] said, there was some powerful way to alter the flow," in a sort of verbal judo.[3] The taxi1010 website is a catalog of Hart's verbal defense strategies, related artwork, and personal stories that together promote psychic abilities, metaprogramming, and stress relief. The website itself is a sort of work of art. Links, contents, and associations all seem to be totally random and unexplained in order to install a sense of being a child. Patterns begin to emerge. The site map for instance depicts the entire website as a hierarchy of categories based on the major arcana of the tarot.[4]
