Tay Eng Soon (Chinese: 鄭永順; pinyin: Zhèng Yǒngshùn; 20 January 1940 – 5 August 1993) was a Singaporean politician.

History

Tay was educated at the Anglo-Chinese School. A member of the People's Action Party, he was Senior Minister of State (Education) in the 1980s[1] until his death in office.[2]

Legacy

One of the two libraries in the Singapore Institute of Management has been named after him, in recognition of Tay's contributions to the SIM's UK Open University Degree Programme.[3]

The Tay Eng Soon Health Sciences Award[4] and Tay Eng Soon Medal[5] are most likely also named after him.
