Taylor Humphries (born March 27, 1980) is an American producer, writer, actor and director.

Early years and education

Humphries was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Los Angeles and D.C. Humphries spent his second year of high school at John F. Kennedy High School, yet graduated from Beverly Hills High School and received his BFA in Theatre/Film from Hampton University in Virginia. After receiving several football scholarship offers to various schools, including San Diego State University and his father's alma mater, University of Michigan, the former high school Quarterback ended up a starting wide receiver for Hampton University, due to an injury to his throwing shoulder. Humphries concurrently starred as the leads in the Off-Broadway plays The Emperor Jones and The Amen Corner written by James Baldwin. Taylor's first appearance on TV was as Petty Officer Smith on the CBS drama JAG.

Career

Humphries started his career as a production assistant on the CBS show JAG. He quickly became familiar with his surroundings and in less than a year had earned a co-starring role. Having learned the inner workings of a successful production, he went on to produce the underground and hit feature film, CAKE, about the gritty lives of LA Drug Dealers.

He has been in front of and behind the camera his entire career. He garnered critical reviews for his portrayal of Dick Jensen in Theatre Palisades premiere of The Best Man. He has also written and produced TV shows such as The Locator on WE tv, Chain Reaction on Game Show Network and Sport Science (TV series) on ESPN. Taylor's athleticism put him back in front of the camera for Sport Science, where he donned football gear, ran routes and caught passes from Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Leinart.

He has written and produced songs that have aired on various TV shows including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, America's Next Top Model, Dr. 90210.

In 2011, he created and wrote several shows for NBC Digital Studios. In 2012, he directed portions of the FOX Fall Preview for the Fox Broadcasting Company. In 2013, he wrote, directed, produced and starred in the short film Tyler's War, was a writer for The Numbers Game on National Geographic and a showrunner for a TV gameshow pilot titled Secrets & Lies for E! Entertainment Television, LLC. In 2014, he was brought on as a Consulting Producer by Comcast/NBC/Universal to create more than a dozen formatted shows, while at the same time Co-Executive Producing a game show titled You Don't Know Blank! for Science (TV network). In June of 2014, his feature film script titled Harpers Ferry: The John Brown Story, was featured on the monthly Black List.
