Teabox
Teabox (previously known as DarjeelingTeaXpress) is an e-commerce website which focuses on supplying fresh tea to customers. [1]
Early history
Kaushal Dugar founded DarjeelingTeaXpress[2][3] in 2012 with an aim to sell fresh Darjeeling Tea, bootstrapped with less than $33,000. DarjeelingTeaXpress’s products quickly expanded to include teas from Assam, Niligiri and Nepal and became Teabox in October 2013.
With under 20 employees and a customer base spanning 65 countries, Teabox raised seed funding of $1 million[4][5] from Accel Partners and Horizen Ventures in 2014.
Specialization
The tea sourced by Teabox are orthodox long leaves, instead of commercial tea dust manufactured by traditional CTC method. The tea is vacuum packed and sealed in opaque wraps, and procured and shipped to customers within 48 hours of production, cutting short the traditional retail storage period of 3–6 months.
Tea Subscription
In May, 2014 Teabox launched its monthly tea subscription program, Teabox Fresh Beginnings. Members receive samples of various types of tea on a monthly basis.
