Teletrece —also known as T13 or Tele 13— is the flagship daily evening television news programme of the chilean television channel Canal 13, 13c and 13i. It is presented by journalists Ramón Ulloa and Constanza Santa Maria. First aired on March 1, 1970 is currently the longest-running television programme and the third most watched national newscast in Chile.[1][2]

It is broadcast Monday to Sunday at 9:00pm in continental territory and 7:00pm in Easter Island. It features ninety minutes of national, international and sports news, followed by a national weather forecast with Carolina Infante. Primarily broadcasts from the Canal 13 Television Centre in Providencia, Santiago Metropolitan Region and studios in Concepción and Valparaíso.

History

Teletrece was launched on 1 March 1970, replacing the former newscast El repórter Esso (1964-1968) and Martini al instante (1968-1970). As flagship programme from the news division of the network started in 1963.[3] Since its initial duration of 30 minutes each night, Teletrece begins to extend to reach during 1973, an hour and a half in length, with three daily editions of 30 minutes, because of the large amount of information which were produced following above background.[4]

After the coup that overthrew Salvador Allende, the tuning of Teletrece been maintained as opposed to the renewal of National Television and the inclusion of its new National newscast (which previously had been issued between 1969 and 1970). However, in 1975 Channel 13 reports to the pompous opening 60 minutes on national television, and brings to conduct Teletrece Cesar Antonio Santis (figure before TVN), who gives a new look to for information.

In April 1992, Eduardo Riveros Behnke comes to take over the information until noon May 3, 2002. In March 1990 Augusto Gatica left to enter the information as the official voice of the channel until August 1997 when it replaced the speaker Ivan Moya, so Javier Miranda is called to take charge of Teletrece Monday through Friday. On May 15, 2006 is incorporated into a new space: it is the evening news "FP6" hosted by Soledad Onetto. This newsletter is geared specifically to middle-class audience, and young. On February 20, 2009, Hofmann Teletrece leaves, the news suffers reformulation. In January 2011, resolved the return of morning news show "Teletrece AM", replacing "on everyone's lips." Furthermore, "Teletarde" renamed "Teletrece Afternoon" and "Telenoche" renamed "Teletrece Night". All this to enhance the brand "Tele13".

On December 9, 2011 Jorge Cabezas, director of the press, is fired from the station. He arrived in September 2010 from TVN as one of "strategic signings" the Luksic channel to improve hearing in the newspaper space. According to the chairman, René Cortázar, had called for his resignation, because it "failed to meet the goals" established when he took office in August 2010.

On May 2, 2012 he took over as new drivers of the main editing 21:00 journalists Montserrat Alvarez and Ramon Ulloa, the latter who returns to the station after spending a few years at CNN Chile. Also Mary Constance becomes the host of the edition "T13 AM" with Paulo Ramirez and Ivan Valenzuela finally retires from the news to focus on new projects, both on Channel 13 and 13C.

In addition, 13C airs Monday through Friday at 19:30 T13 C (formerly Teletrece Cable), led by Antonio Quinteros. This newsletter was formerly called News Gathering, was broadcast on Canal 13 Chile international signal of the channel and on Channel 13 Cable Channel 3 signal of the season, was led by Karin Ebensperger international analyst.
