Dedito de Queso also known as Palitos De Queso or Tequeño is a fried breaded cheese stick or a spear of bread dough with queso blanco (white cheese) in the middle. It is formed into a breadstick and then usually fried in oil for 2 to 3 minutes at 400 °F (204 °C). However instead of frying tequeño, you may put it in the oven. It is one of the most popular in many cultures snack foods in parties, especially weddings. Tequeño can also be eaten as a snack, breakfast, sometimes they can be served as part of the main or as a starter and sometimes even as dinner. In most Latin American countries, tequeños are very popular and can be bought in most grocery stores.

Tequeños origin is from Venezuela. There are many theories and legends about the origin of the name Tequeño. One of the theories is that tequeños came from Caracas, Venezuela and it was during the nineteenth century. Tequeños are believed to come from the place Los Teques. In Los Teques, there were many wealthy families that were on vacation very often. It is said that tequeños were invented in one of the wealthy families kitchen. [1]

Tequeños can be made with different types of cheeses, however most of the cheeses used are salty. Tequeños can be sold in many restaurants in most places in the world. Tequeños have become very popular in latin america because of how easy they are to make.
