Tera Wray (April 14, 1982 January 13, 2016) was a pornographic actress, originally from Louisville, Kentucky.[2] Her stage name is derived from her real first name, Tera, and her best friend's middle name, Wray.[3]

Career

She has said "I've wanted to do porn since I was in the fourth grade. I would always tell people that I wanted to be a porn star."[4]

Her first job was as an umpire for a youth softball league.[5] When she was 17, she had ovarian cancer, which was able to be removed by lasers and without chemotherapy.[3]

While working as a Hooters Girl, she applied to be an erotic actress with the film company Pleasure Productions, through contacts at her local adult store.[5] In summer 2006, the company signed her as their first contract performer in two years.[6]

Her first scene was with Lee Stone in Naughty Auditions, the second of her films to be released. Her first film released was Sweet Smokin' Hotties, on March 8, 2007. Her first lesbian scene was with Nicki Hunter.[5][7]

Wray often appeared in movies of the alt porn genre, and in the summer 2007 film Tattooed & Tight, she probably became the first person to perform a hardcore sex act on film while their partner received a tattoo.[8][9]

She was a fan of heavy metal music, and hosted Matt Zane's[10] adult-oriented music series, Radium, during which she interviewed bands and attended concerts, as well as performing in sex scenes.[11][12]

Personal life

Later, she traveled with Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest Summer Tour 2007 (as a model for the tour's sponsors, Hustler Lingerie).[13] During the tour, she began dating Static-X frontman Wayne Static,[12][14][15] On January 10, 2008 the couple wed in Las Vegas.[16][17] She announced her retirement from the industry in August 2008.[18]

In 2009, Static-X released their sixth studio album, Cult of Static. This album features two tracks entitled "Tera-Fied", followed by "Stingwray", which is a reference to Tera's stage name, as well as the latter song being a reference to her Corvette Stingray. She appeared in the music video for "Stingwray".[19]

Wray was widowed after Wayne Static died on November 1, 2014.[20]

Death

Wray died on January 13, 2016 of an apparent suicide at her friends apartment in Joshua Tree, California at the age of 33.[21] Her body was discovered by her roommate on January 14, 2016. A note left by Wray instructed her roommate to call Wray's mother and her attorney.[21]
