Texas State Highway Spur 261 (also known locally as N. Shepherd Drive) is a Texas State Spur in Harris County, Texas. It runs from North Loop Freeway Interstate 610, until it reaches Interstate 45.

Route description

Spur 261 begins at an interchange with I-610 in Houston, Harris County, at which point it heads north on a one-way pair following three-lane North Shepherd Drive northbound and three-lane North Durham Drive southbound. The one-way pair heads through commercial areas, with the southbound direction joining the northbound direction on six-lane divided North Shepherd Drive. The road runs past more businesses, crossing under a BNSF Railway line. The highway continues between residential neighborhoods to the west and commercial areas to the east before crossing West 43rd Street/West Crosstimbers Road, at which point it is lined with more businesses. The road continues through more commercial areas, with the median widening slightly.[1][2][3] Spur 261 reaches its northern terminus at an interchange with I-45.[1][2][4]

History

Spur 261 was designated onto its current alignment in 1954. It has remained on the same road since.[1]
