Thai Town, Sydney
Thai Town is a neighbourhood in Sydney with a Thai theme. Thai Town is located in Haymarket on Campbell Street bordering Chinatown. It consists of Thai restaurants, Thai video stores and Thai groceries. Sydney has the highest population of Thais in Australia with a population of 100,000.
Thaitown celebrates many Thai festivals such as the Songkran Festival which is held every April (Thai New Year). Thaitown formed around 2000 when cheaper rents and a reputation as a source for Thai specialty foods led Thai businesses to move into the area. It is served by Central railway station.
